DEO and DC Vijaya Jadhav briefs media on Giridih election notification

The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the notification of elections for the Giridih Parliamentary Constituency on April 29, 2024. With the issuance of the notification, the process of candidate nomination has commenced. District Electoral Officer (DEO) cum Deputy Commissioner (DC)  Vijaya Jadhav conveyed this information on Monday. She addressed all print and electronic media representatives at the conference held in the auditorium of the Collectorate.   Present at the occasion were several top officials including Superintendent of Police  Pujya Prakash,  DDC Sandeep Kumar,   A.C.  Mumtaz Ansari, District Assistant Electoral Officer  Pratibha Kujur, Nodal Officer of Media Cell and District Public Relations Officer Saket Kumar Pandey, Responsible Officer and Assistant Public Relations Officer Avinash Kumar Singh, along with others.   Notably  DEO Jadhav highlighted that the last date for nomination is May 6, 2024. During this period, candidates can submit their nomination papers to the Returning Officers office from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Nomination cannot be submitted on the day declared as a public holiday under the N.I Act 1881. The venue for nomination will be the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Bokaro.   Furthermore, the following points were emphasized: - Only three vehicles of the candidate will be allowed to enter the periphery of the Collectorate premises during the nomination filing. - Only five individuals, including the candidate, will be permitted to enter the Collectorate premises during the nomination filing. - The prescribed fees for nomination are Rs. 25,000/- for general candidates and Rs. 12,500/- for SC/ST candidates. - It is mandatory to attach certain documents along with the nomination form, including the affidavit (Form 26) with all columns filled, the original receipt of the fee payment, caste certificate (if applicable), and more.   Moreover, DC Vijaya Jadhav cautioned against holding meetings or conferences based on caste/religion/linguistic grounds by any political party during their campaign. She directed all concerned officials to ensure compliance with this directive, stating that any violation would lead to action under the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).   Additionally, arrangements have been made for strict vigilance, including the formation of various teams and a composite control room.
